Is Bandersnatch a real book? No, it isn’t. The book in the film, a choose-your-own adventure novel, is written by murderous author Jerome F . Bandersnatch begins with Stefan Butler (Fionn Whitehead), a programmer who dreams of making it as a video game designer. His goal is to turn the book Bandersnatch, by Jerome F. Davies, into a computer game, taking his idea to Tuckersoft. There he works for boss Mohan Thakur (Asim Chaudhry) and with his idol, Colin Ritman (Will Poulter).

The publisher of the classic "Choose Your Own Adventure" books is suing Netflix, claiming the streaming service infringed on its trademarked format for the new film "Black Mirror: Bandersnatch.".   “Bandersnatch,” on the other hand, isn’t set in a sci-fi or satirical world. It’s more like magical realism, and instead of being about a technology, it’s about a storytelling technique.

Bandersnatch offers an inside look at the Inklings of Oxford, and a seat at their table at the Eagle and Child pub. It shows how encouragement and criticism made all the difference in The Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, and dozens of other books written by the members of their circle.
